LIMITS TO CONFIDENTIALITY
There are times when it is legally and ethically required to break confidentiality. In such circumstances, minimum amount of information will be accessed necessary to
meet legal and ethical guidelines. Below are circumstances in which it is required to release information to a necessary entity:
- If I’m concerned that the client or another individual is at risk in imminentdanger of serious harm, I am legally obligated to break confidentiality and sharewith a third party and call the police if necessary. I will explore other optionswith the client before I take this step.
- If the client is involved in a lawsuit and I am subpoenaed to appear in court, Iam legally obligated to attend. If my notes are subpoenaed I must responsiblydisclose my notes to the court.
- I am legally responsible to report any actual current cases (even suspectedcases) of child abuse or neglect to the Ministry of Children & FamilyDevelopment.
OTHER RIGHTS
At any time, clients may opt out of any future contact or service from us. Clients can do so by contacting us via email or phone number. With any private information given to Living Stones Art Therapy, clients have the right to access that information and change or update them when necessary. Clients also have the right to express any concerns about the usage of their information and have us delete certain records on file if requested.
